Day Habilitation

Northeast Arc’s Day Habilitation programs assist with the acquisition, retention, or improvement of self-help, socialization and adaptive skills. We offer three different Day Hab programs, each with its own particular focus: Meridian Day Habilitation, LEEDS Day Habilitation and Cornerstones. Similar activities and offerings are available at each of the different programs.

Support plans are designed based on a person’s own goals and dreams, so each person’s Day Hab plan will guide his or her activities. Clinical supports and consultations are woven into the participant’s daily activity; RNs and LPNs are present at each of the Day Hab Programs.

The variety of supports and activities at each program include, but are not limited to:
•    Activities of Daily Living Skill Development
•    Communication Support and Development
•    Behavioral Supports
•    Self-Advocacy
•    Peer Mentoring
•    Medical Case Management
•    Community-Based Activities
•    Adaptive Technology including the use of iPads, iPod Touches and Smart Boards
•    Socialization
•    Health and Wellness
•    Community Outreach in support of our neighbors
•    Part-time work opportunities
•    Clinical Services as needed

Northeast Arc’s Day Habilitation Programs provide specialty subservices to participants.

Intensive Medical Supports are available for people with high skill needs through our Meridian Day Habilitation program. A higher nurse/staff-to-participant ratio prevails to ensure that full participation in activities can be achieved.

Allergy Free Environment is available for people who require a more controlled atmosphere to ensure their health and well-being.

Transition Services for people leaving the school system and entering adult services is offered.

Employment Opportunities are available; participants may choose to split their day/week between the Day Habilitation programs and Heritage Industries. This provides a seamless transition, as staff from both areas work closely together.
